Shelby County 4-H Camp

June 2nd-6th, 2025

Shelby County will attend camp at the beautiful Lake Cumberland 4-H Camp in Jabez June 2-6. A $50 deposit will hold your slot when your initial paperwork is submitted. The cost of camp for 2025 will be $225. This is reduced from the original of $325 due to the generous support of the Shelby County Extension District Board. We have space to accept 140 campers. After the slots are filled we will begin a waiting list and campers will be taken off the waiting list (in order) only if others drop out.

4-H Camp is open to all Shelby County youth ages 9-13. Campers must attend camp with the county in which they live or attend school. Campers stay in cabins that hold approximately 20 youth, with teens, counselors in training, and adult leaders. Class sign-ups will be on a first-to-register basis. Campers can choose from traditional camp activities as well as several new classes. Some of the traditional classes include canoeing, fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, archery, riflery, and high ropes. Each night will end with everyone’s favorite, “Sally Down the Alley”. This year’s camp theme is “4-H Camp- Find Your Spark".

Due to cancellations, we are still accepting applications for female campers. If interested, please reach out to MaryGrace.Jackson@uky.edu

New Class Rotation System at Camp
If you've camped with us in the past couple of years, you may remember filling out a form to select your classes. This year, there's no need to choose just four classes. Instead, campers will rotate through nine different classes with their cabinmates.

We believe this new system will give campers even more chances to explore new interests, build friendships, and have fun in exciting and unexpected ways.

Campers are not required to bring money, but if they would like to, we suggest $20-$40 as an appropriate amount.

The Country Store at Kentucky 4-H Camp is a favorite stop for campers looking to grab fun gear, useful items, and memorable souvenirs. Stocked with a wide variety of affordable merchandise, the store offers everything from friendship bracelets, glow necklaces, and waterproof playing cards to snacks, drinks, and personal care items—all under $5.

For those looking to splurge a little more, there are cooling towels, drawstring bags, deluxe sunglasses, and even plush animal hoodies. Campers can also find practical gear like hammocks, lanterns, hiking sticks, and water bottles, as well as a colorful selection of 4-H apparel, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats. With new items and designs added for 2025, the Country Store is the perfect place to pick up something fun, functional, or just plain cool to remember your camp experience.
